Dr. Malkin grew up in Los Angeles, and in a meaningful sense he never left. Not because he stayed put, but because he kept returning to the people here and what they need from medicine.
He earned a joint MD/MBA from Tufts University School of Medicine and the Brandeis University Heller School of Business, a combination that signals something about how he thinks: the science of medicine and the real-world systems that either deliver it to people or fail to. He completed his Family Medicine residency at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles and is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
What followed residency wasn’t a conventional clinical trajectory. Dr. Malkin built two practices oriented around a single idea that medicine should come to people, meet them where they are, and remove the friction that keeps so many from getting care at all. He is the founder and medical director of Concierge MD LA, which provides primary and urgent medical care through house calls, and of Drip Hydration, a mobile IV therapy and wellness company. Both reflect the same underlying conviction: access matters, and the structure of how care is delivered is not a neutral thing.
His involvement in addiction medicine is a natural extension of that conviction. People in the middle of addiction and withdrawal don’t need medicine that makes them navigate a system. They need medicine that shows up. Dr. Malkin is an active member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and brings to Royal Recovery a clinical sensibility shaped by years of treating the whole person and not just the presenting condition, in the settings where people live their lives.
